Distortional weak-coupling instability of Bogoliubov Fermi surfaces

چکیده

Centrosymmetric multiband superconductors which break time-reversal symmetry generically have two-dimensional nodes, i.e., Fermi surfaces of Bogoliubov quasiparticles. We show that the coupling electrons to lattice always leads a weak-coupling instability such state towards spontaneous breaking inversion at low temperatures. This is driven by Cooper logarithm in internal energy but order parameter not superconducting distortional. present comprehensive analysis and introduce measure allows compare strengths competing distortional instabilities. Moreover, we discuss using an effective single-band model. framework reveals duality mapping model maps onto one, providing natural explanation for nature instability. Finally, consider possibility pair-density wave when broken. find it can indeed exist does affect itself.

From weak- to strong-coupling mesoscopic Fermi liquids

We study mesoscopic fluctuations in a system in which there is a continuous connection between two distinct Fermi liquids, asking whether the mesoscopic variation in the two limits is correlated. The particular system studied is an Anderson impurity coupled to a finite mesoscopic reservoir described by the random matrix theory, a structure which can be realized using quantum dots. We use the sl...

Soft fermi surfaces and breakdown of Fermi-liquid behavior.

Electron-electron interactions can induce Fermi surface deformations which break the point-group symmetry of the lattice structure of the system. In the vicinity of such a "Pomeranchuk instability" the Fermi surface is easily deformed by anisotropic perturbations, and exhibits enhanced collective fluctuations. We show that critical Fermi surface fluctuations near a d-wave Pomeranchuk instabilit...

Spatial trends of noncollinear exchange coupling mediated by itinerant carriers with different Fermi surfaces

We study the exchange coupling mediated by itinerant carriers with spin-orbit interaction by both analytic and numeric approaches. The mediated exchange coupling is noncollinear and its spatial trends depend on the Fermi-surface topology of the itinerant carriers. Taking Rashba interaction as an example, the exchange coupling is similar to the conventional Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida type in ...

Fermi and the Theory of Weak Interactions

research is quantum field theory and high energy physics. The history of weak interactions starting with Fermi's creation of the beta decay theory and culminating in its modern avatar in the form of the electroweak gauge theory is described. Discoveries of parity violation, matter{antimatter asymmetry, W and Z bosons and neutrino mass are highlighted.
